Getting started with Dosido for macOS
Dosido for macOS lives in your menu bar and notices when you bounce from your DAW, so the file lands in Dosido without dragging it anywhere.
What Dosido for macOS does
When you export a bounce from Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, or Pro Tools, Dosido opens a small window asking where it should go — a new track, or a new version of one you already have. Fill in the details, save, and it's on the track page for your collaborators.
The app runs in your menu bar, with no Dock icon.
What you need
- A Mac running macOS 13.5 or later
- A Dosido account
- Ableton Live, Logic Pro, FL Studio, or Pro Tools
Installing
- Download the app from the Dosido download page.
- Open the downloaded file and drag Dosido into your Applications folder.
- Open Dosido from Applications. Its icon appears in your menu bar.
Setting up
The first time you open it, Dosido walks you through setup:
- Sign in. Click Sign in… and sign in with your Dosido account, so your uploads reach the right account.
- Enable accessibility. Click Enable… and turn on Dosido in System Settings. Dosido uses this to read the file name from your DAW's export window — it's how it knows which new file is your bounce. Without it, bounces aren't picked up automatically, though you can still upload one by hand.
- Connect Ableton. If you have Ableton Live 12, Dosido offers to connect to it so your bounces arrive with tempo, key, and plugins filled in. This step is optional — click Skip for now to do it later. See Connecting Dosido to Ableton Live.
- Start at login. On the last screen, turn on Start at login to have Dosido open whenever you log in to your Mac.
If you close setup before it's done, the menu bar shows Finish setting up Dosido… until you finish.
The menu bar menu
Click the Dosido icon in your menu bar to see:
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Finish setting up Dosido… | Appears until you've signed in and turned on accessibility. |
| Connect Ableton… | Appears if you have Ableton Live and haven't connected it, or if the connection stops working. |
| Restart Ableton Live to update Dosido | Appears after an update, until you restart Live. |
| Logged in as your name | Shows which account your uploads go to. |
| Sign out / Sign in… | Switches accounts. |
| Upload a bounce… | Uploads an audio file by hand. |
| Automatically upload new bounces | When checked — the default — Dosido opens the upload window after every bounce. |
| Check for updates… | Checks for a newer version right now. |
| Quit Dosido | Closes the app. Bounces aren't picked up until you open it again. |
Only one of the first three appears at a time.
The desktop badge on your avatar
While Ableton Live is open on your Mac and Dosido for macOS is running, a small computer icon appears on your avatar in a project's member list. Everyone in the projects you share can see it. It goes away when you quit Live.
The badge only reflects Ableton Live — it doesn't appear for Logic Pro, FL Studio, or Pro Tools. There's no setting to hide it; quitting Dosido stops it.
Staying up to date
Dosido updates itself, checking for a new version every few hours while it's running. To check right away, choose Check for updates… from the menu bar.
If you've connected Ableton, an update can also ask you to restart Live so it loads the new version — see Connecting Dosido to Ableton Live.
