Uploading tracks and versions
How to add a new track to your project, or a new version of an existing one.
Uploading is open to everyone in a project, whatever their role.
Opening the upload window
- From the Tracks page — click Upload Track in the page header.
- From a track's Versions page — open a track and click the version count under its title, next to the collaborators (for example, 3 versions), or View all → in its Versions panel. Then click Upload Version.
- By dragging — drop an audio file anywhere on the Tracks page, a track's page, or a track's Versions page. The track page has no upload button of its own, so dragging is the quickest way to add a version there.
Tip: on a Mac, Dosido for macOS uploads each bounce as you export it from your DAW, so there's nothing to drag. See Uploading bounces from your DAW.
The upload flow
- Pick or drop a file. The Upload a track window opens with a drop zone and a Browse files… button. Supported formats:
.mp3,.wav,.flac,.m4a,.ogg,.aac,.aif,.aiff. - Watch the progress bar. Larger files show a percentage and
X.X / Y.Y MB. Cancel upload aborts at any point. - Choose where it goes — a new track, or a new version of one you already have.
- Fill in the details and save. The track or new version appears in your project.
New track or new version?
Once the file is up, Dosido asks Add to:
- An existing track — adds the upload as a new version. Pick the track with the Search for a track… field.
- A new track — creates one. Its New Track Title is pre-filled from the filename (
Heavy Sleeper_v3.wav→ "Heavy Sleeper"); edit it before saving.
Dosido skips the question when the answer is obvious. If you uploaded from a track's page, or the filename closely matches a track you already have, it goes straight to New version of "<track>" — you can still change it. If your project has no tracks yet, it goes straight to a new track.
Replacing a version's audio
Re-exported a mix under the same filename? If the file's name exactly matches the one you uploaded for a track's newest version, Dosido also offers Overwrite v3 (with that version's label). This replaces only the audio — the version's notes, producers, key, BPM, and comments all stay, and the waveform regenerates.
The match has to be exact, capitalization included.
Details you can set
Every field is optional — you can save with just the file and edit later. Dosido pre-fills what it can from the filename.
| Field | What goes here |
|---|---|
| Version | A label for this version — 1, 1.1, Demo, Final Mix. What you type is what shows up; Dosido doesn't reformat it. |
| Producers | Project members credited on this version. Type @ to pick from your project. |
| Notes | Any context worth saving — what changed, what to listen for, who heard it. |
| BPM | Numbers from 20 to 300. |
| Key | Pick from a list of major and minor keys. |
Things to know
- Drag-and-drop is web only. In the Dosido iOS app, use Browse files….
- What happens after upload — editing version details and moving a version between tracks are covered in Editing, moving, and deleting versions; pinning a featured version has its own guide: Pinning a featured version.
