Using the track page
Everything about one track lives on its page: listen, see who's working on it and where it stands, talk about it, and get to every version.
Getting around
Open a track from the Tracks page, a playlist, or anywhere else its title shows up. The project's tabs stay across the top with Tracks lit. If you came from the Tracks page, clicking Tracks takes you back to it with your filters and sort just as you left them.
If you opened the track from a list, arrows at the right end of the tabs step to the previous and next track in that list, and the ← and → keys do the same. It's the quickest way to walk through a playlist or a filtered track list one track at a time.
The header
- Cover art — press play on it to hear the featured version. Click the art itself to change it; see Track and playlist artwork.
- Title — click it to rename the track.
- Avatars — the person who added the track, plus everyone credited as a producer on any of its versions.
- Version count — for example, 4 versions. Click it to open the track's Versions page.
- Status — click it to change where the track stands. See Track statuses.
- Check out — tells collaborators you're working on the track, and a banner under the header shows who has it. Click Check in when you're done. If someone else has it checked out, you can take it over.
At the top right, the star adds the track to Favorites in your sidebar; the number beside it is how many people have favorited it. Share makes a link for people outside the project (see Sharing tracks and playlists), and Add to playlist does what it says.
Anyone in the project can rename the track, change its status or its art, and check it out. Only the person who checked a track out can check it back in.
Feed and To-dos
The Feed is everything that's happened on this track, newest first: new versions, posts and comments, and checkouts. To add to it, write in the box — What's happening with and the track's name — and click Post.
Note: a post here also appears in the project's feed on the Activity tab, so the whole project sees it — not just people who open this track. The line under the box says so: Posts here and to the project's feed.
To-dos sit beside the Feed: checklist items for this track that anyone in the project can add and tick off. Turn on Hide resolved to see only what's still open.
The panels beside the feed
- Featured version — the artist name, duration, BPM, key, and any Ableton plugins of the featured version, plus when the track was created and when its latest version arrived. Click Edit next to Artist name to credit this track to someone else; see Artist names. For why these details come from one version, see How versions work.
- Versions — the track's versions, featured first. Click one to open it, or View all → for the full Versions page. Older versions are always here; nothing is replaced when a new one arrives.
- Appears on — the playlists this track is in.
On a phone or a narrow window
When there isn't room for columns side by side, the page switches to three tabs: Feed, To-dos, and Info. Info holds the Featured version, Versions, and Appears on panels — so if you're looking for a track's BPM, its artist name, or its older versions on your phone, that's where they are.
Adding a version
Drag an audio file anywhere onto the track page and it uploads as a new version of this track. See Uploading tracks and versions.
