Sharing tracks and playlists

Share a track, a specific version, or a whole playlist with anyone — no Dosido account needed. Here's how to create a link, set how long it lasts, and what the recipient sees.

What you can share

You can share three things, all the same way:

  • A track — plays its current featured version, so the link follows the track as it evolves.
  • A specific version — pinned to that exact take.
  • A playlist — the whole set, in your order.

Any project member can share any track, version, or playlist in the project.

Click Share at the top right of a track's page, a version's page, or a playlist's page. A short form opens:

  • Shared with (optional) — a note for your own reference about who you're sending it to. The recipient never sees this.
  • Link expires — Never, In 1 day, In 7 days, or In 30 days. New links default to 30 days.
  • Allow guests to comment on this track — shown when you're sharing a track or a version, on by default. Turn it off if you'd rather not open it up to outside comments. (Playlist shares don't offer commenting.)
  • Allow the audio file(s) to be downloaded — off by default. Leave it off for listen-only; turn it on to let the recipient download.

Click Generate Link, then copy the link and send it however you like.

What the recipient sees

The link opens a clean listen page — a player with your track or playlist, no account or login required. If you allowed downloads, there's a Download button (a shared playlist gets Download all, which bundles every track into a zip, plus a download button on each individual track). If you allowed comments on a track or version share, a comment box appears for outside listeners to leave a note — you're notified when one arrives, unless you've turned off Comments on your shares in your notification settings. The page notes who shared it and, if you set one, when the link expires.

Tracks are credited with their artist name, and a shared playlist shows any public track names you've set — never your internal track names. Both the track and the playlist bring their cover art along, too.

Tip: sharing a track always plays its featured version — so when the featured version changes, because a new version arrives or you pin a different one, everyone with the old link hears the new one. Want to share one exact take that won't change? Share the version instead. See How versions work.

If you set an expiration, the link stops working when it's up. A visitor who opens an expired link sees a short "This link has expired" message — none of your music is exposed.

To keep tabs on your links, change an expiration, or cut a link off early, see Managing your share links.
