Listening on your iPhone
How the player works in the Dosido iOS app: the mini player, the Now Playing screen, the player settings, and playing from the lock screen or through AirPlay.
The mini player
When a track is playing, the mini player sits at the bottom of the screen, above the tabs. It shows the track and version, with play/pause, next, and a ··· menu for the player settings (see below).
Tap the track's artwork or title to open Now Playing.
Now Playing
Now Playing is the full-screen player. From top to bottom:
- Artwork — tap it to go to the track's page.
- Title and version, with a comment button and a react button beside them.
- The waveform — drag along it to move to a different point in the track. The times under it show where you are and how much is left.
- Previous, play/pause, and next. Previous goes back to the start of the track if you're more than three seconds in, and to the previous track otherwise.
- Share, Go to track, and ··· along the bottom.
To close Now Playing, swipe down or tap the handle at the top. The track keeps playing in the mini player.
Commenting and reacting
The comment button opens a box for a comment on the version that's playing. It's posted as a reply to that version, the same as replying to it in the track's Feed.
The react button opens a row of reactions: ❤️ 🔥 👏 🙏 🎧 ➕. Tap one to add it, or tap one you've already added to take it back. The + button at the end opens the full set of emoji.
Sharing
Share makes a share link for the version that's playing, so you can send it to someone outside the project. See Sharing tracks and playlists for how share links work.
Player settings
The ··· menu, in the mini player or on Now Playing, has three items:
- Auto-Advance — when a track ends, the next track from the list you started playing from plays automatically. It's on to start with. Turn it off and playback stops at the end of each track.
- Original Quality — plays the file exactly as it was uploaded instead of the smaller streaming copy. Original files take longer to start. This item only appears when the version has a separate streaming copy to switch from.
- Close Player — stops playback and removes the player from the screen.
Both settings are remembered on your phone. Original Quality is the same setting as Audio Quality in CarPlay. Change it in one place and it changes in the other.
Lock screen, Control Center, and AirPlay
Playback keeps going when you switch apps or lock your phone. From the lock screen or Control Center you can play, pause, skip to the next or previous track, and drag the progress bar to move through the track.
To play through a HomePod, Apple TV, or other AirPlay speaker, use the AirPlay button on the lock screen or in Control Center.
Who can do this
Any project member can play tracks, comment, react, and make share links.
